Sussex students are in the bottom three in the UK for money spent on alcohol
Wait, are we boring?
Students in Brighton spend the third least on alcohol out of any university city in the UK.
According to the NatWest Student Living Index, the average Brighton student spends only £5.78 on buying alcohol per week – over £1 less than the national average.

We were an eye-watering 3p behind our closest competitor, Southampton – although we did beat Birmingham by over £1.50.
In the Index overall, we were named the 12th most cost-effective city in the UK for students – the top five being Edinburgh, Southampton, Cambridge, Oxford and Plymouth.
The bad news doesn’t end there, either – we also pay the most for household bills: £14.92 a week, a whopping £2 more than second place Dundee.
