Opening date for Cineworld and several new restaurants in Luff revealed

Looga’s new Cineworld is going to open on the 18th May, while Nando’s will open it’s doors in early June.

The venue is part of a major multi-million pound development in the heart of Baxter Gate on the site of the former Loughborough General Hospital.

It will also includes several snazzy restaurants – including Nando’s – and bars, but not everywhere will be opening on the same date.

The new cinema will feature eight state-of-the-art screens showing the latest releases, as well as a Baskins Robbins counter and a Starbucks coffee shop, which will be the first in little old Loughborough and open on the same day.

The 1,087 seat cinema also opens on the same week that blockbusters X-Men: Apocalypse and Disney’s Alice Through The Looking Glass are released.

Phil Jones, general manager for Loughborough’s Cineworld, said: “We’re very excited about the opening of Cineworld Loughborough.

“We look forward to offering film fans the best all-round viewing experience with a hotly anticipated line-up of films including, Disney’s Alice Through The Looking Glass and X-Men: Apocalypse. We can’t wait to share our passion for film with the community.”

Other ventures at the site include Nando’s, Pizza Express, Bella Italia, Asian buffet and bar Mimosa, Brazilian grill-house Preto, cafe and bistro Loungers and Loco Mexicana.

In total, the development will see around 250 jobs up for grabs, with Cineworld, Nando’s and Bella Italia already recruiting new staff at the site.

The scheme is set to inject thousands of pounds into Loughborough’s night-time economy, and will hopefully spice up leisure time for the students of Luff. As much as we love Odeon and Fernandez, we think it’s time for something new.

In total, 150 builders have been involved in the scheme, working 12 hour shifts to make sure the site is open. Estimated opening dates for the other ventures are:

• Pizza Express- May 5th.

• Bella Italia-May 9th.

• Loungers, which will be named Centro Lounge- May 25th.

• Mimosa- late May.

• Nando’s- early June.

• No dates have been confirmed yet for Preto or Loco Mexicana.
