Edinburgh University has offered space for pupils affected by school closures
Seventeen schools have been closed in Edinburgh due to building flaws
The University of Edinburgh has offered space to seventeen closed schools for teaching and exam purposes.
With the closure of seventeen PFI (private finance initiative) schools, due to structural flaws, measures have had to be taken to provide for the 7600 classroom-less students.
With 2000 students preparing to sit exams in the coming weeks, The University of Edinburgh, Edinburgh Napier University and the Scottish Parliament have all offered exam and teaching space.
The University of Edinburgh has offered its services to the council by finding 114 rooms across its campuses by the end of the week, which would accommodate 4000 of the affected pupils.
The council has postponed some exams, including those in foreign languages, and has ordered the ESP (The Edinburgh Schools Partnership) to undertake full structural and material surveys in order to investigate other possible flaws.
