Police officers investigate Loughborough stabbing
The assault took place on Oxford Street
Police Officers are investigating the stabbing of a man in Loughborough.
The assault took place on Oxford Street on Friday 18th March at around 3.30pm. The victim was a 34-year-old man who was stabbed in the back. A 23-year-old man has been arrested in connection with the incident.
A police spokeswoman said: “The assault took place in Oxford Street, Loughborough around 3.30pm when a 34-year-old man sustained a stab wound to his back.
“He was taken to the Leicester Royal Infirmary but subsequently transferred to the Queen’s Medical Centre in Nottingham, where he remains in a stable condition.
“A man was arrested on Sunday, March 20 on suspicion of grievous bodily harm with intent and released on police bail pending further enquiries.
“Enquiries are ongoing into the assault and we’d like to speak to anyone who may have witnessed the incident or knows anything about the circumstances leading up to it.”

A forensic investigation unit sealed off Oxford Street on the day of the assault.
Oxford Street is in Loughborough’s famous golden triangle- a triangle comprising of roads popular for student housing. Second year Sports Management student, Taegan O’hara lives on Leopold Street which is also in the golden triangle. She told The Tab: “Considering I live about 30 yards away from Oxford Street, this incident makes me feel quite unsafe to live in that area of Loughborough.”
