Mo Farah took bronze in World Half Marathon in Cardiff

Farah’s time of 59 minutes 59 seconds was 27 seconds off his own European record.

Defending champion Kamworor won in 59 minutes 10 seconds despite falling at the start, while Bedan Karoki came second.

Mo finished the race in under an hour

Farah said: “I’m disappointed” adding it was “massive motivation for Rio”.

The double Olympic and World champion went on to say: “With great support from the home crowd it would have been nice to win.

“But there were better athletes who won on the day, the guys were strong and I couldn’t go with it. I did run a fast time but as an athlete you always want to win.”

It was the biggest race ever held in Wales, with 16,000 runners and £2m raised for charities.
