Crufts. What do all those hundreds of dogs actually do when they come together under one roof? Most of us have no idea.

We thought we’d give you an insight into the lives of the most beautiful canines in the country, during the most important week of their year. So here they are – the most precious pups of Crufts 2016.

Zoom the dog championship winning dog from Blackpool, Lancs., See Ross Parry Copy RPYAGILITY : It’s not every day a 10-year-old Aussie is named a champion of England. And it's certainly not every day the ‘youngster’ turns out to be 70 - in dog years at least - with a name like Zoom. The athletic Australian Kelpie - a type of sheep dog - emerged victorious from two rounds at the challenging Nations Cup, seeing off competition from around the globe with her teammates Rogue and Dolly. Zoom has also qualified to run in two Discover Dogs agility events in London next month, the London International Horse Show at the Olympia in London in December, and at Crufts next March. Her proud master and trainer, Blackpool woman Nicola Wildman, described her as ‘amazing’. 6 October 2015.

Owners are giving up little dogs such as shih tzus, chihuahuas, Yorkshire terriers, and pugs in record numbers because they don't want to take them for WALKS, according to a study by pet charity Blue Cross. It reveals many people think small dogs are easy to look after because of their size. But when they realise how much care they need, they decide they can't cope and give them away. "Impulse buying" pets as accessories is also being blamed for the culture and the charity is urging potential owners to do their research properly before buying a little dog, rather than blindly follow the latest celebrity fad. The research revealed the number of "handbag" dogs handed in to the charity has increased by 120 per cent in the last five years. Despite being a firm favourite of Johnny Depp and Britney Spears, Yorkshire terriers came top of the most-unwanted list with UK rescue centres seeing a 40 per cent rise in hand-ins since 2010.
