Thousands of QUB students voted in today’s United Ireland referenda, and the results show they care about neutrality, not unity.

In perhaps the biggest anticlimax of the year, Sinn Fein’s earlier petition ultimately meant nothing as QUB students decided they wanted neutrality from the university.
The official referenda asked Queen’s students to decide on current and breaking issues such as:
1. Should Ireland be a united and independent country?
2. The Student’s Union is a shared space that is inclusive for all students and should therefore have a neutral stance on the constitutional position of Northern Ireland – do you agree with this statement?
The results, announced at 5.30pm after a day’s worth of voting says NO to unity and YES to neutrality.
They had been accused of attempting to ‘politic’ lectures
