Medical Imaging claims best subject as the 2014 Teaching Awards are announced
University continues to go from strength to strength
University of Exeter students, academics and staff recently gathered to celebrate the 2014 teaching awards at the Royal Albert Memorial Museum.
Out of the ten different categories a winner and runner up were announced. The results are as follows:
Best postgraduate teacher:
- Winner: Bert Bond – Sport and Health Science.
- Runner up: John Ault – History and Politics.
Exeter’s Sport and Health representatives
Best employability support:
- Winner: Julie Mills – Medical Imaging.
- Runner up: Dr. Sara Burton – Biosciences.
Hatherly, the home of Exeter’s Bioscience labs
Best feedback provider:
- Winner: Professor Chloe Paver – Modern languages.
- Runner up: Dr. Bill Peng – Accounting and finance.
Exeter’s Queens Building, the home of Humanities
Innovative teaching:
- Winner: Dr. Emma Taylor – Medical school.
- Runner up: Dr. Sharon Marshall – Classics and Ancient History.
Exeter’s Peninsula Medical School
Best lecturer:
- Winner: Dr. Gihan Marasingha – Maths.
- Runner up: Dr. Jane Milling – Drama.

Professor Janice Kay, Deputy Vice Chancellor (Education) believed the night was a huge success, saying: “Staff frequently go above and beyond what could be reasonably expected of them to support students and I am delighted.”
Vice President Academic Affairs Alex Louch, meanwhile, praised the awards: “The Teaching Awards are a wonderful opportunity for students and the Guild,” he said, “to give something back to the talented and dedicated University staff with whom we work and to ensure they know how greatly they are valued.”
