A vigil is being held in memory of York student Harvey Parker on Thursday.

The student-led vigil will be held at Greg’s Place, University of York, on Thursday 10th February at 8pm.

All York students and staff will be welcome to pay tribute to the Music student.

The University of York said: “We want to support all Harvey’s friends and everyone in the University, so if anyone needs help, we want to remind you that we have help and support services available both on and off-campus.”

After the tragic news of Harvey’s death was announced, a Just Giving page was set up and over £77,000 was raised in their memory. The money raised will go to “young queer support groups, neurodiverse and gender-diverse young people and talented musicians from under-represented communities.”

Harvey’s friends and family said: “We want to send our thanks to everyone who can help us to support these causes, as a way to not only celebrate Harvey’s life but to keep the memory of our beautiful Harvey alive.” The Just Giving page can be found here. Please donate where you can to show support for these causes and keep Harvey’s memory alive.

Nobody should suffer alone. Support is available to all students affected by Harvey’s death to contact University wellbeing services for help.

A list of wellbeing services available to York students can be found here as well as the Samaritans’ helpline.
