Lancaster University’s Women+ forum announces events for Women’s History Month

The events will take place throughout campus and in Sugar

With the start of March comes the commencement of Women’s History Month, a time for the celebration of women’s achievements and contributions to society and culture, alongside the recognition of their struggles.

To celebrate this month, Lancaster University’s Women+ forum has announced a timetable of events on their Instagram.

The events will begin with a discussion of the “representation of women in scripture” on Thursday 2nd March in collaboration with the Feminist Society, followed by a Sugar takeover with DJ Michelle Anderson on Friday 3rd March.

A “Reclaim the Night!” march across campus will begin at 8pm on Thursday 16th March in Alexandra Square, ending with a Grizedale after party.

The forum has also scheduled artistic celebrations: a crafts session will take place in the Welcome Centre on Tuesday 7th March, followed by banner making and free pizza in Fylde Common Room on 14th March.

Throughout March, an exhibition celebrating women+ writers will be set up in the University library. A further exhibition recognising “misogyny across sectors” will also take place in the library on Tuesday 21st March.

Full details can be found on the forum’s Instagram.
