Write for us! The Birmingham Tab is looking for new contributors to join its team

Come to our meeting at Joe’s Bar on Thursday, 10th October, at 5pm!

The Birmingham Tab is assembling a fresh team of student writers to provide quality news and entertainment for Brum’s student population.

The Tab is a student-led news site that is revolutionising journalism and is focused on highlighting stories that would otherwise be overlooked.

The Tab is the biggest platform for young journalists in the UK with many writers having gone on to work for other top media organisations in Britain and across the globe.

We cover a wide range of topics, such as breaking news, campus rumours, quizzes, and guides, so there’s something for every kind of writer and reader.

Being a part of The Tab also involves more than just writing articles and writing for us offers you a glimpse into the reality of modern media while allowing you to make new friendships.

All current students are welcome to apply, and journalism experience is not a requirement, as you’ll receive training from experienced editors and journalists from The Tab HQ.

Our team of writers receive journalistic training from industry experts, which will give you the foundation you need to excel at writing.

We’re holding our first meeting at Joe’s Bar on Thursday, 10th October, at 5pm, so come down and find out how you can become a member of The Tab.

Still need convincing? Well, here are some great reasons why you should join the team:

You can amplify your voice

The Brum team collaborates with the London HQ and other student-led teams nationwide.

We have been recognised by industry titans like VICE, The Guardian, and The Times and have a combined readership of over nine million people each month, so your voice and your stories will be heard on a massive scale.

Our stories are posted on our social media channels and to our local site, with the most exciting ones showcased on The Tab’s national page, which garners hundreds of thousands of views daily.

This is your opportunity to have your voice heard.

You’ll get a killer CV

Our writers get training from our team experts and have intern opportunities at places like The Tab HQ in London. Our writers have gone on to have big careers with companies like The Telegraph, BBC, and Vogue.

The Tab also looks great for anyone wanting to do a Master’s in journalism, media or communications too, as it counts as industry experience, something admissions teams love.

However, if you want to challenge yourself even more, The Birmingham Tab is actually currently recruiting an editorial team! Editors help commission, edit, and write articles, but there are also social media specific roles available too.

Not only does being an editor look great on your CV but you’ll also occasionally get invited to London to meet the national writers, do workshops, and sometimes get a free curry! What more could you want?!

This training, paired with your experience and article publications, will make your CV shine!

You’ll make new friends

The Birmingham Tab is a super social and friendly community of young, driven students. This is a great place to make new friends and to connect with others like-minded people.

We have all the perks of a uni society without the joining fees, so why would you not join us?

You can write about what matters to you

Our writers cover anything and everything that matters to students, whether that’s writing about ongoing strikes or reviewing the newest chicken shop in Selly Oak.

We also aim to get the latest scoops first so you’ll get a chance to work on hard hitting, breaking stories.

Being a writer at The Tab is like having a golden ticket; the opportunities are endless, and it’s an unforgettable adventure.

Whether journalism is your vocation or you just want to vent, this opportunity is for you.

The Birmingham Tab sees your potential, and we want you to join our team!

Don’t forget, we’re also recruiting an editorial team too. You can apply here.

So, pop on down to Joe’s Bar on Thursday, 10th October, at 5pm!
