Hannah from Love Is Blind finally admits to being ‘cruel’ and ‘demeaning’ towards Nick

‘We’re just bringing out the worst in each other’

Hannah from Love Is Blind has finally spoken out about her treatment of Nick after their breakup in this week’s episodes. Season seven has been a whirlwind of drama, but Hannah has received a lot of backlash online for her treatment of Nick Dorka, her ex-fiancée. However, she since told People magazine that she has recognised the way she spoke to him on the show was out of order.

While their actual breakup seemed quick and out of the blue, viewers could all see it had been brewing for a long while. Hannah explained it was “a lot of things” that made her reach a “breaking point” in the relationship.

“I think for me, it just came down to: I saw my friends [with him], my family was there, and I just had a moment where I was kind of like, what am I doing?” she said. It seems like Hannah couldn’t look past her “ick list”, as he described seeing “all these issues” with Nick. She knew she was “being mean” to him and it made her realise they just “shouldn’t be together.”

The two didn’t really have any aligning values, interests or morals and I’m not sure how they made it out of the pods to be honest. Nick tried to tell Hannah many times that he felt belittled by her, but it often led to an argument. Since watching the show, Hannah told People she “absolutely recognised” how her behaviour came off.

“By the end of it, I was like, at this point, I don’t have anything nice to say. I’m just saying mean things and that’s cruel to him. And it’s cruel to me as well, like what am I doing? We’re just bringing out the worst in each other,” she explained. “Watching it back, it’s a lot. The way I acted was very cruel and it was very demeaning towards him. I wish I didn’t do it in that way.”

Still, though, Hannah believed “what I said was the truth… that’s how I felt in the moment. I don’t regret it.”

People online were quick to call out Hannah’s behaviour, but she defended a lot of her reasons for acting the way she did. One influencing factor for her was the wavering opinion of her best friends. “If I want to break up with Nick, if I want to be with Nick, I’m going to do whatever I want to do. But those are my best friends. And if they’re asking those questions and he still doesn’t have the answers to the questions that they’re asking, it was just concerning.”

She continued: “They made me realise the more they saw what I was seeing, so I didn’t feel crazy. And I think I kind of needed that a little bit. I think I was going to make that decision on my own, but it definitely helped to see that and see how he interacted with my friends.”

Overall, Hannah took an important message from the show, which is to be “kinder and just be more patient.”

“And I think in the future, it’s just love is not easy, and if you really want it, you have to try for it, but don’t settle either,” she concluded. “If it’s something that’s absolutely ridiculous, don’t settle for it. Just figure out what you want and it’ll come to you. You don’t have to force anything to happen for you.”

It’s nice to see Hannah is learning and growing, but it definitely wasn’t just her with the red flags in her relationship with Nick on Love Is Blind. I don’t think I will ever physically move on from watching Nick try and fail to boil water by himself.
