Blake Lively condemned for promoting her alcoholic drinks company at It Ends With Us event

One of the cocktails was called Ryle You Wait, after the film’s abuser

Blake Lively is getting called out for yet another “tone deaf” and “insensitive” move during an event for It Ends With Us, where she chose to promote her alcoholic drinks company.

Blake Lively created her alcoholic drinks company, Betty Booze in 2023 following the success of her premium soda brand, Betty Buzz which launched in 2022. During an after party for the It Ends With Us premiere, Blake Lively decided to promote her drinks company by setting up an entire themed event centred around alcohol, with cocktail names relating to the film.

Some of the cocktail names included Blooming Betty, Tom Colleen’s and the controversial Ryle You Wait, named after the film’s abuser. People have called her out for that cocktail in particular, writing: “Did y’all really do a cutesy cocktail name after Ryle, the literal abuser in this story? Yikes.”

Throughout the press tour for It Ends With Us, Blake has been promoting both her new haircare range and both Betty brands, but this event has been the tipping point for a lot of her supporters. In the comments of the Betty Booze and Betty Buzz Instagram accounts, where the reel was posted, people have been vocal about their opinions on the event.

One wrote: “What a gross way to exploit a movie about domestic violence to promote Blake Lively’s business ventures. WOW.” Another added: “People with alcohol issues are six times more likely to abuse their partners. Promoting a film with such a powerful DV theme with an alcohol brand is disappointing and disrespectful of DV survivors.”
