Kit Harrington brutally admits he quit Jon Snow spinoff show as it wasn’t even ‘worth doing’

He initially refused to join the project when first approached by HBO

Kit Harrington has made a pretty savage admission about the future of his Jon Snow spinoff show, revealing it wasn’t “exciting enough” for him to continue with it. The spinoff was originally announced by George R.R. Martin back in 2022, but back in April of this year, it was revealed that the project had been cancelled.

At the time, Kit Harrington explained to Screen Rant that the project wasn’t worth doing in its current state. He explained: “In development, you look at every angle, and you see whether it’s worth it. And currently, it’s not. Currently, it’s off the table, because we all couldn’t find the right story to tell that we were all excited about enough. So we decided to lay down tools with it for the time being. There may be a time in the future where we return to it, but at the moment, no. It’s firmly on the shelf.”

And now, during a new interview with British GQ, Kit Harrington revealed more about why he “backed out” of the Jon Snow spinoff show. He admitted: “What I can tell you is it was HBO that came to me and said, ‘Would you consider this?’

“My first reaction was no. And then I thought there could be an interesting and important story about the soldier after the war. I felt that there might be something left to say and a story left to tell in a pretty limited way. We spent a couple of years back and forth developing it. And it just didn’t… nothing got us excited enough.”

He added that he eventually “backed out” out of concern that “if we push this any further and keep developing it we could end up with something that’s not good. And that’s the last thing we all want.”
