Kit Harrington comments on the very hated Game of Thrones ending and he didn’t hold back

‘There were mistakes made’

| UPDATED

Kit Harrington has spoken on the backlash to the final season and ending of Game of Thrones in a new interview. Unless you live under a rock, it’s pretty well documented that we all absolutely despised the atrocious ending to Game of Thrones. Even the show’s biggest fans and defenders (of which I am one) were in collective agreement that it was a pile of crap. So bad that it got a petition with 1.8 million signatures of people demanding it got remade. Kit Harrington, who played Jon Snow in the show, has just spoken about the ending of Game of Thrones and how he really feels about it a few years later.

Speaking to GQ, Kit Harrington talks about how he went into rehab for alcoholism in 2018, and said “I went in and everyone loved Thrones; I came out and everyone hated it. I thought, What the fuck is going on?!”

When he was asked about the changing tide on opinion on Game of Thrones, Kit Harrington said of the final season and specifically the ending in the final episode “I think if there was any fault with the end of Thrones, is that we were all so fucking tired, we couldn’t have gone on longer. And so I understand some people thought it was rushed and I might agree with them. But I’m not sure there was any alternative. I look at pictures of me in that final season and I look exhausted. I look spent. I didn’t have another season in me.” On the backlash to the much maligned final episode? “Everyone is entitled to their opinion. I think there were mistakes made, story-wise, towards the end maybe. I think there were some interesting choices that didn’t quite work.”

Savage. But kind of refreshing to hear a cast member be open about something that was, for all intents and purposes, a complete and utter misfire. And we will never forgive them!
