Ariana Grande voice changing

Ariana Grande defends her voice changing mid-interview after getting backlash online

A video went viral of her voice changing completely within seconds on a podcast

Ariana Grande has responded to internet backlash following her voice completely changing in the middle of an interview, where she defends the fact that she speaks completely differently.

On a now viral podcast appearance with Penn Badgley from You on Podcrushed, Ariana Grande is talking about recording new music with a deeper register speaking voice before shifting her tone to something more high pitched. The jarring change sent the video viral, with everyone confused about why someone would do that naturally when talking. Ariana Grande quickly commented on the TikTok, defending how her voice is changing and why it might be doing that to anyone criticising her or feeling confused.

Saying why it happens, Ariana said “Habit (speaking like this for two years), and also vocal health. I intentionally change my vocal placement (high / low), often depending on how much singing I’m doing. I’ve always done this BYE.”

Ariana was on the podcast to promote her new album, as well as the upcoming single release remix of The Boy is Mine. She told fans “I went to the studio the day after the Met [Gala] and stayed for, like, 10 days and I was literally living there. I’ve been writing a lot, and maybe there’s more. I would like to do a deluxe at some point.”

The Boy is Mine remix is coming with a music video, and features Brandy and Monica – the artists who famously released a huge hit of the same name back in the 90s. Ariana Grande is also going to star as Glinda in the long-awaited film adaptation of the huge hit musical Wicked, with part one coming this autumn.
