Taylor Swift and Deuxmoi drama explained: Did she really get married to Joe Alwyn in secret?
Taylor’s publicist, who rarely speaks publicly, said: ‘Enough is enough’
Taylor Swift’s publicist Tree Paine has just publicly responded to false claims made by celeb gossip page Deuxmoi that she got married to her ex Joe Alwyn secretly in 2020/2021 before splitting up last year.
Her publicist, who never normally posts to social media, tweeted a screenshot of Deuxmoi’s Instagram post with the caption: “Enough is enough with these fabricated lies about Taylor from Deuxmoi. There was NEVER a marriage or ceremony of ANY kind. This is an insane thing to post. It’s time for you to be held accountable for the pain and trauma you cause with posts like these.”
But where did the drama start and did Taylor Swift and Joe Alwyn get secretly married? Here’s all the Taylor Swift, Joe Alwyn and Deuxmoi drama explained:
Basically, Deuxmoi is a celebrity gossip page which claims to be a “curator of pop culture” with over two million followers on Instagram. It’s known for posting anonymous messages and tip-offs about celebrities.
But on an Instagram story, the page claimed that Taylor Swift married Joe Alwyn in a non-legal ceremony in 2020 or 2023. The post read: “She DID have a ceremony in either 2020 or 2021 in the UK and it was described to me as a “marriage” by more than one person. It was NEVER made legal.
“I will die on this hill! Put it on my tombstone! I have no reason to lie, I couldn’t give a shit what she does!!!!! I’m sorry she didn’t tell you guys about it in a song but just because she doesn’t sing about something doesn’t mean it didn’t happen!!!”

Tree Paine, Taylor’s publicist, then screenshotted the post and posted it on Twitter very strongly denying the marriage claims. She added: “It’s time for you to be held accountable for the pain and trauma you cause with posts like these.”

Tree has led Taylor’s publicity team since 2014, and has often been seen at events with Taylor, such as the recent London premiere of Beyoncé’s Renaissance tour film. Taylor has previously told a fan that Tree “tells me what to do”.
But Deuxmoi has now hit back at Tree in another Insta story. It said: “Well I make zero dollars from lying… can publicists say the same? Also, to relate something that is in reference to something that happened years ago to ‘pain & trauma’ after what just happened seems like a poor choice of words. Either way, I apologise to Taylor.”
Deuxmoi did not specify what was meant by “after what just happened” but it could be a reference to the death of the 23-year-old fan Ana Clara Benevides Machado who died at Taylor Swift’s concert in Rio de Janeiro.
But the drama doesn’t stop there. On Thursday, People claims that Deuxmoi also posted an Insta story claiming that her newly released song “You’re Losing Me” was inspired by a miscarriage that caused a rift between Taylor and Joe. But this post was quickly deleted after Tree Paine tweeted her response.
It was reported in April that Taylor and Joe had broken up after six years together. But people have since been questioning the timeline of their relationship after Jack Antonoff revealed they wrote the break-up ballad, You’re Losing Me, in December 2021, before they broke up.
Part of the Insta story Deuxmoi originally posted speculated about this song and the timeline. It reads: “I think Swifties need a reminder that just because Taylor wrote a sad song about Joe on Dec 21 doesn’t mean they broke up around that time OR that she was unhappy for all of 2022/23. Anyone who has been in a long-term relationship will tell you there are highs and lows. She could have written it during an argument and was over it the next day. She’s Taylor Swift. She’s always writing songs.”
Deuxmoi and Tree Paine have been contacted for comment.
