Savannah Chrisley mourns ‘devastating’ death of ‘lifelong’ friend Charlie Kirk
'I sit here with a broken heart, devastated beyond words'
Reality TV star Savannah Chrisley is in mourning following the tragic death of Charlie Kirk, the conservative activist and Turning Point USA co-founder. He was fatally shot while speaking on a Utah university campus on September 10, 2025.
In a heartfelt statement, Savannah described him not just as a public figure but as someone who changed her life, lifted her family up when she most needed it, and gave her a voice. Through tears, Savannah said Charlie “gave her a voice as a woman,” and “made her feel like she had power to show up in this world.”
Savannah Chrisley mourns ‘devastating’ loss of Charlie Kirk
Savannah Chrisley has spoken openly about the past two and a half years being among her most difficult, marked by legal battles involving her parents, Todd and Julie Chrisley, and many personal challenges. In that turbulent period, she has said, she also met “so many great people and lifelong friends,” among them Charlie Kirk.
Per her social media posts, Charlie played a pivotal role in helping Savannah feel empowered. During her family’s darkest moments, when public scrutiny and legal stress were overwhelming, Savannah said Charlie believed in her and her family when so many others had turned away. He encouraged her when she struggled with seeing a plan for the future.
Plans were already in place for Savannah and Kirk to travel together across college campuses “every weekend” in October this year, speaking publicly and advocating for causes they both believed in. Through tears, she said: “I was supposed to be sitting next to Charlie every weekend in October. This is tough. Pray, pray for Charlie, his parents, his children, his entire family.”
“He believed in me and in my family when the world turned its back,” she wrote in the post’s caption. “He saw potential, he spoke life into us, and he reminded me that God still had a plan even when I couldn’t see it myself. That kind of belief changes you forever.”
According to the BBC, “Kirk, 31, who had been invited to speak at Utah Valley University (UVU), was seated under a white gazebo addressing a crowd of about 3,000 people in the quad, an outdoor bowl courtyard. According to eyewitnesses and videos taken at the scene, he was responding to a question about gun violence when a single shot rang out around 12:20 local time.”
The report contined: “Kirk was rushed to hospital in a private vehicle. Hours later, Trump confirmed his death on a post on Truth Social. The university campus has since been evacuated, as authorities search for the shooter.”
Savannah hopes she can build ‘half of his legacy’
Speaking to her followers, Savannah explained she was “numb” following Charlie’s death. In her tribute, she said: “I sit here with a broken heart, devastated beyond words.” She also expressed her sympathy and sorrow for Kirk’s wife, Erika Frantzve Kirk, and their young children, urging people to “pray” for them.
Savannah wrote in her post: “I’m truly grieving for his wife, Erica. One of the kindest, most loving human beings I’ve ever had the pleasure of knowing.”
Savannah said she hopes to build on what Charlie started, especially for her future children. “He created a movement. His legacy is one that I hope I can build half of for my kids… You changed America. You changed me. You changed my family. Rest easy, my friend. Heaven has gained a warrior,” she wrote.
The Chrisley Knows Best alum’s younger brother, Grayson Chrisley, also took to Instagram to pay tribute to Charlie. He wrote: “I have been at a loss for words all day but one thing I can promise is this type of hatred and evil did not and will not silence people such as myself from speaking our mind….It does not matter if you are left, right, or in the middle a human being lost his life.”
