They’re always being asked questions about where their former decades-long marriage is going, but she’s now said why she’s held off from filing.
Kyle Richards reveals why she hasn’t divorced Mauricio Umansky
Kyle Richards hasn’t divorced Mauricio Umansky since announcing they’d broken up a year ago. Many are curious about why, but she’s finally revealed on the RHOBH After Show that it’s because there was potential hope Mauricio would want to rekindle their former marriage, even though he moved out of their family home months ago.
“I mean, he’s just going and living his best life. He’s a happy little camper,” Kyle explained. “I guess it’s just, there’s a little part of me that thinks, okay, say I move on with somebody new. What if he’s like, ‘OK, I went and sowed my wild oats,’ or whatever that expression is,” Kyle added, weighing the possibility that Mauricio might want to get back together. “I mean, he’s the one that said, ‘I know this comes with a risk.’”
She’s also seen pictures of Mauricio moving on, such as that airport snap, which has been admittedly hard for Kyle. After her co-star Sutton Stracke advised Kyle to divorce Mauricio, she replied, “If we hated each other it would be so easy — not really, but emotionally easy. I think that it was just hard, and neither one of us wanted to be the one to say, ‘OK. We’re not going to be together.'”
“We’ve made it easy for each other to not have to do that by just avoiding everything, actually,” Kyle added. “I think a lot of the women were pressing for answers from me before I even had the answers myself. I think they didn’t believe me, but I genuinely did not. They were watching my marriage unfold in real time. So, I was like, ‘Guys, I don’t have the answers. Not everyone has them that fast.”
“I need time to figure things out. Time to figure out where I’m at. It doesn’t bring me happiness to say, ‘My marriage didn’t work out and I’m moving on.’ But I’m happy that I’m in a place where I can at least say, ‘OK, we should have these conversations,'” Kyle continued to say on the After Show.
They also haven’t reconciled – and it’s for one reason
Although Kyle has now told Mauricio they need to have the “harder conversations,” she thinks it’s much easier for her estranged husband. She said, “Everyone’s like, ‘Are you getting divorced? Are you getting divorced?’ I mean, everybody asks me that. I think I’m anxious, I’m getting impatient. I’m impatient because I wanna know what my life is gonna be. I think it’s different for men.”
When we were struggling, it felt like he was just waiting for me to get over it instead of saying, like, ‘No, I love you, we are not doing this, we’re going to fight until we fix everything,'” Kyle continued. “I don’t know what’s more sad: If he didn’t want to fight for me, or if he wanted to and didn’t know how. Either way, he didn’t. I’m starting to feel like I need to really move on.”
She also clarified a comment she made during her at-home appointment with her therapist and life coach about Mauricio “not fighting” for their marriage. Kyle said, “When it actually did crumble and we separated, we finally went to therapy, but there was an agreement where he would go to therapy on his own and we would do therapy together and I would go on my own, and he just decided not to do that.”
