Katie Ginella is a newcomer to The Real Housewives of Orange County this summer. She’s thrown right into the mix of drama which kicks off from the word ‘go’ in season 18. The mom-of-four is a newbie to RHOC but it’s not her first time appearing on a reality TV show.
The Real Housewives of Orange County season 18 is set to be epic for many reasons. Not only are long-standing cast members Heather Dubrow and Shannon Beador still in the cast, but Alexis Bellino returns as a “friend,” and fresh faces also join the ladies – namely Katie.
RHOC’s Katie Ginella was on Say Yes to the Dress
While Katie is likely getting a shock to the system as she mingles with the RHOC group, she has had some prior experience appearing on reality TV.
The Bravo newbie was on Say Yes to the Dress some years back.
Katie got married in 2015 but it wasn’t until two years later that the star’s Say Yes to the Dress episode aired on TV.
Sharing a clip from her time on the TLC show, Katie can be seen trying on a dress she loves but her friend says she’s “distracted” by its low cut neckline.
She said: “This dress is dreamy.”
But added: “I’m going to be wearing this dress in front of a lot of golf professionals, golf is a very conservative sport. I don’t want to look back at my wedding day and be like ‘wow, that’s boobs.'”
In the end, Katie opted for a totally different dress for her wedding day. She tied the knot in a satin David Fielden gown paired with Jimmy Choo heels, writes Brides.
Katie’s husband had to ask for hand in marriage
Per Brides, Katie and her husband had an intimate wedding with only 26 guests.
Katie tied the knot with digital creator Matt Ginella nine years ago. The two got married in a “rustic” themed Missouri wedding.
Matt and Katie met when she was 30. He explains on his blog, The Fire Pit Collective, how he had to ask for Katie’s daughter’s permission to marry her mom.
He writes: “It was Kaili who sat me down and explained to me what I had to do, the person I needed to be, in order to get her OK to date her mom. A little over a year later, I didn’t ask my wife’s father for permission for Katie’s hand in marriage, I asked Kaili. Who, thankfully, gave me the green light.”
By the looks of Matt’s Instagram page, he’s his wife’s biggest supporter. Writing about her addition to the RHOC cast, he says:
“I marveled at my wife’s energy, spirit, guts, courage, character and ability to navigate some of the nastiness that goes along with that group of friends.”
