Taylor Swift and Madonna made ‘diva demands’ at the VMAs and bosses ‘bent over backwards’

Taylor Swift and Madonna are up there as two of the most famous women on the planet. And it would seem they know it. Because apparently they were making some pretty big demands while at the VMAs this week, and bosses were quite happy to do whatever it took to make sure they were happy. 

Taylor Swift and Madonna both attended the VMAs in LA, and were crowned winners. Madonna won seven awards, including artist of the year, and best collaboration for Bring Your Love with Sabrina Carpenter. Taylor made history as the most decorated star of all time, as she accepted the first-ever Artist Director Honors, and the final award of the night, video of the year. 

Awards aside, it would seem they made quite the impression, too. Wondering why you’ve not seen many glam photos of Madonna on the red carpet? According to The Sun, Madonna refused to make an appearance on the carpet before the awards, and then demanded only pre-approved photographers could take photos of her during her performance. 

Taylor was also quite specific with how her time at the awards would work. She spent just 15 minutes in the auditorium, and is said to have waited until the rest of the carpet had been closed off, to have her photos taken in private, at around 4:20pm. This was just 10 minutes before the ceremony itself started. But, she missed the start, reportedly only entering the main room at 5:54pm.

Minutes later, she went on to accept the Artist Director Honor and premiered the video to new single Patient Zero, before making a *swift* exit. She returned very briefly to pick up video of the year, but then left again straight afterwards. You can’t hold her down!

The publication has claimed bosses “bent over backwards”, and a source said: “Madonna and Taylor are the most powerful women in music so what they say goes, and MTV were happy to accommodate their every want and need. Madonna made it clear she wanted to look her best, so organisers made sure no photos were published which she didn’t feel comfortable with.

“Taylor’s team insisted she didn’t want to distract from the other artists by being in the room all night, so decided to watch much of the ceremony backstage instead.”

I mean, if I were Taylor Swift or Madonna I think I’d be insufferable with demands, so fair enough.
