Real-life photos of Lizzie Borden’s parents show what they looked like over the years

Monster: The Lizzie Borden Story made her parents, Andrew and Abby, look quite different to the actual history books, so here are some real-life photos that show what they really looked like.

Ryan Murphy’s latest instalment in the Monster series tells the story of the woman from Fall River, Massachusetts, who was accused and later acquitted of killing her father and stepmother in August 1892.

Charlie Hunnam transformed himself from Ed Gein into Andrew Borden for the show, while Rebecca Hall took on the role of his wife, Abby Borden. They did a great job, but their appearance in the show isn’t entirely accurate. 

What Lizzie’s Borden’s father Andrew looked like in real life

In Monster, Andrew looks quite young, but he was actually 69 when he was brutally murdered. This portrait shows Borden in his younger years.

This picture is believed to have been taken between 1856 and 1859, when Andrew was around 34 to 37 years old. At this time, he was building his fortune through carpentry and furniture making in Fall River.

Here are some real-life photos of Lizzie’s Borden’s stepmother, Abby 

Abby Borden was 64 when she was murdered at her home in Fall River, Massachusetts, in August 1892. This image is undated, but shows her a few decades before her death.

Abby looks a little older in this photo. She married Andrew in June 1865, just two years after Lizzie’s mother passed away on 26th March, 1863.
