Man dubbed ‘The Butt Sniffer’ arrested after police reviewed CCTV footage of ‘inappropriate behaviour’
‘He’ll just look around and try to take the chance to sniff any woman’s butt’
A man who has been dubbed “The Butt Sniffer” has been arrested in the US, following reports of “inappropriate behaviour” at shops.
39-year-old Calese Crowder was previously arrested on suspicion of inappropriate behaviour at Southern California businesses, but has now been caught allegedly doing the same thing again, at two stores in Glendale, LA. The shops are believed to have been a grocery store and a clothes shop, which both reported the man behaving strangely in their premises.
As per NBC, police confirmed the two shops reported a man acting suspiciously and bending down around people. Police reviewed security camera footage from both locations, and Crowder was identified as the suspect. He was arrested a short time later, on suspicion of a parole violation. Crowder is reported as being held without bail.
Sources told the publication workers at the shops called 911 to report a customer bending down behind people and attempting to sniff. According to ABC, witnesses said the man was crouching down and getting close to others.
“I know he’s harmless, but it’s a weird fetish,” a store manager called Jimmy Koh said. “Crouching down like he normally would, and he’ll just look around and try to take the chance to sniff like any woman’s butt.”

The investigation is said to still be ongoing, and the case will be submitted to prosecutors for possible criminal charges.
In July 2025, Crowder was arrested after reports of someone roaming the women’s department of a store, and sexually harassing a female customer, according to the Burbank Police Department.
Then, the next month, he was reportedly arrested again after allegedly sniffing a woman’s behind inside a different store in the Burbank area. A woman went viral sharing her encounter with Crowder on TikTok.

Crowder is reported to have a history of similar offences in Glendale and Burbank dating back to 2021, according to police. He admitted to violating his parole last year, and was sentenced to serve more than 100 days in jail.
“While in the women’s section, the suspect was observed following a female customer, crouching near her, and engaging in lewd behaviour by inappropriately sniffing her buttocks,” police said in a statement last year. “Given the nature of the behaviour, officers made contact with the suspect and detained him for further investigation.”
