For some reason, JP Miller’s historic criminal past was left out of Death of the Pastor’s Wife

In Death of the Pastor’s Wife on Netflix, we learned all about JP Miller’s alleged crimes of stalking, but there was more to the picture that Netflix didn’t include. 

One such detail was JP Miller’s friendship with Mark Kaufman. Though we got a small peek inside their relationship in Death of the Pastor’s Wife, it was actually Mark who first wrote the parody songs that Mica frequently sang. Another detail was the plane that Still Rock Ministries purchased after Mica’s death. Though nothing appeared to happen with it, it’s since been transferred to Mark’s company FeRX LLC. 

On JP Miller specifically, Netflix failed to include two prior convictions.

JP Miller was convicted twice in the 1990s 

The pastor’s two earlier convictions took place in the 1990s, with one being a conviction for driving under suspension in March of 1998. The second, and most serious, was an assault and battery charge of a “high and aggravated nature” in June of 1999.

In 2024, local media outlets dug through police reports and court filings to find the convictions. According to those filings, the pastor hit a woman with his truck and drove for 100 yards with her on the hood of his vehicle. He claimed she was harassing him in response. 

For hitting the woman with his car, he was handed a four-year suspended sentence, three years of probation, and 500 hours of community service. In 2022, he was pardoned on those convictions after the court was satisfied by him carrying out the sentences. It called him a “law abiding citizen.”

Things have obviously changed a lot since then, and JP is now awaiting trial for federal cyberstalking. The pastor has maintained his innocence on all accusations.
