The ultimate guide for the best A-Level results day in Bristol
From the expert freshers themselves x
In just a few days, A-Level results day hits the nation, and soon-to-be Bristol university students will find out their destiny. So what better way to celebrate finding out you’re headed to Bristol in September than spending it in Bristol yourself, and getting that real feel for what your freshers experience will be like.
The Morning

As it’s an early start (with results available from 8 am), you probably won’t have even had a chance to get a coffee. So, first stop is Parsons Bakery, a staple for the Bristol university student, known for its low prices and delicious cakes. So, trek up St. Michael’s Hill (which, unfortunately, you will have to get used to) and get the nice reward of coffee and cake from Parsons Bakery.
The day
After your Parsons breakkie, you should head to Gloucester Road and spend the morning charity shopping! A vital part of the Bristol university student lifestyle, it seems a no-brainer to get a kick-start on that Bristol student aesthetic by buying clothes with a vintage (and hefty price) tag. Reward yourself for all that hard A-Level work with a brand new wardrobe, ready for term to start in September.

For lunch, stroll down Park Street to PizzaRova, where you can get yourself a pizza and drink and sit on College Green (granted this plan is weather dependent). Spend an hour people-watching and avoiding being attacked by pigeons, catching the rays in the ultimate Bristol uni tanning spot.
Then, whilst still on Park Street, you might as well pop into the Berkeley for your first celebratory drink of the day. This may be your final time in the Berkeley, as when the semester starts you will have to queue for this beloved spoons and you may only be in the lucky few to get in a number of times: so enjoy it whilst it lasts!

The evening

For dinner, what better place to go than Wapping Wharf? Grab some food from one of the many options in the crates, then head to the harbour where you can sit, chat, drink and eat some great food. Sitting on the harbour on a sunny day is a universal experience for Bristol university students, so best get your practice in for avoiding those seagulls now.

Now, arguably, the most important part of the evening: clubbing. What is exceptionally lucky is results day lands on a Thursday, meaning there’s only one night out that should be attended- Thekla Thursday. Get your indie/emo vibes flowing with this weekly pressure event and enjoy the queue at its smallest during the summer, as when term starts you’ll need to be getting those tickets a week in advance and queeing for (what feels like) a hundred years. When you’re in Thekla, enjoy the 2-for-1 drinks all night (courtesy of Thekla Thursday) and get absolutely shloshed as is intended on such a celebratory day.

Once it hits 3 am, before the club lights come on, head towards Jason Donervan for your final stop of the evening. A staple for Bristol university students, grab yourself a cheeky kebab to soak up the copious amounts of alcohol you drank. Be sure to snap a photo at Jason Donervan; you’ll soon start a collection when term begins.
After a good 45 thousand steps, you’ll have truly gained the Bristol University experience of endless hills and a cracking night out. Congratulations to all those who are getting results on 13th August; we can’t wait to see you in September!
