This man is in hospital after his Charli XCX Brat tattoo got a horrific infection

Last week, a man on X shared a picture of his Brat album tattoo which had developed a nasty looking infection. Now, he has shared a worrying update from the hospital.

Xiu, who goes by Xui_Shoegaze across X and Instagram, shared a picture of his Brat tattoo on X on the 22nd October.

“Should I be concerned? It hurts like a mf,” he said on his Instagram Story. The Brat tattoo had crusted up and the skin around it looked red and irritated. He posted a second picture which showed the rest of his arm was starting to get a very aggressive red rash.

The content creator then posted another update, this time with the infection looking a lot worse. The tweet got almost 30 million views in just two days.

“This man is a walking biohazard thanks to a brat tattoo,” said one quote tweet with over 100k likes.

The comments are mostly a mixture of concern and disgust. Xui’s most recent update is a picture shared from a hospital bed, where he was getting treated for his severely infected tattoo.

Xui runs meme pages on Instagram and X, with over 80k followers across both platforms.

“I got [the tattoo] in the bathroom of a Laufey show,” he told The Tab. “I’m okay now though, it’s been a learning experience.”

Tattoo infections are mostly caused by allergic reactions or unsanitary conditions, so getting one done in the bathroom of a concert is not the best idea.

Xui’s been taking the unfortunate situation in his stride, regularly updating his followers and poking fun at the bizzarre incident. He’s still open to the idea of getting a tattoo to honour the iconic album, except this time maybe in a more professional environment.

“Maybe I’ll try again in a year or so.”
