Nine iconic stars who rejected roles on The Celebrity Traitors, plus their savage reasons why
I feel deprived of watching Miriam Margolyes at round tables
The Celebrity Traitors is truly stuffed with British icons. But even more famous faces could’ve graced the castle with their presence. We know of nine other vibey celebs who have claimed (or were heavily rumoured) to have rejected offers to go on The Celebrity Traitors. Some of them gave pretty blunt reasons as to why they refused.
Miriam Margolyes
If you’re unfamiliar with her chaotic ways, she’s Professor Sprout from the Harry Potter films.

This is a tragic loss. I would give anything to see her make snarky comments at the round table to, like, everyone.
According to the Metro, she was asked about The Celebrity Traitors at the Cheltenham Festival. She responded: “‘I was offered this job. No. Just recently and I can’t think of anything I’d rather less do. I’m not into that. I’ve never watched it, I don’t intend to watch it… You’ll never get me on it.”
Miriam Margolyes then added: “There is some jolly good people doing it. And if they want to do it for money, well, that’s fair enough.”
The Celebrity Traitors cast were all paid an appearance fee of £40,000 – a huge amount of money, but a smaller paycheck than big celebs get for other reality TV shoes, such as I’m A Celebrity.
Richard Osman
He turned down The Celebrity Traitors because his requirement for going on the show wasn’t feasible.

“I said I would only do it if I could be a Traitor,” he explained on Good Morning Britain, “Only because I couldn’t bear… if I was a Faithful, that thing where you go back to your room at night and you’re just lying there. You know there’s three people up in that tower, having a load of fun in cloaks and filming something. I’d just be lying there going, ‘I could be murdered any second’. I wouldn’t have that control.
“Obviously, they can’t say ‘yes, you can be a Traitor’.”

I suppose being a Faithful must bring a lot of FOMO. Plus, you wouldn’t get to wear a cape.
Lorraine Kelly
Back in February, there were plenty of rumours swirling around that the lovely Lorraine might sign on for the show. Obviously, this didn’t pan out. Apparently she couldn’t fit it into her schedule Her Lorraine show seems to always be on TV. Maybe we’ll see her in a future season instead?
Martin Lewis
That’s the guy who pops up on TV telling people what to do with their money. He now feels “gutted” he turned down The Celebrity Traitors.
He explained on his Instagram: “I’m no Traitor (sadly). I’ve got FOMO looking at the Celebrity Traitors line up. I was asked if I wanted to do it, but said no as I couldn’t commit the time.
“I hadn’t watched it then (but watched the last series after that and loved it) so now feel a little gutted – though I still don’t have the time.”

Andy Murray and Judy Murray
The Celebrity Traitors differs from other season by not having any contestants who are secretly (or not so secretly) related. The Sun claims the BBC failed to convince Andy Murray and his mother to go on the show. Apparently, this led to them signing the comedians Daisy May Cooper and Charlie Cooper instead.

According to Mirror, these celebrity siblings pulled out of the project a few weeks before filming began. Neither wanted to be away from their children for too long.
Karren Brady
Baroness Brady is the businesswoman who presents The Apprentice alongside Lord Sugar. She told Metro she turned down The Celebrity Traitors for two pretty blunt reasons. “One, I’ve never seen it.
“Two, I don’t have the time. I mean, I have a full-time job and The Apprentice is filmed just in my sweet spot in the summer when the football season is over, so I can just about fit in. But that’s it.”
Apparently she doesn’t go on The Apprentice because she wants to be on reality TV, but because Alan Sugar is “a true friend”.
