Is Susan Lorincz really a doctor? Everything we know about the The Perfect Neighbor’s job
‘Listen, my name is Dr Lorincz’
Netflix’s gripping new documentary, Perfect Neighbor, sheds light on the manslaughter of Ajike ‘AJ’ Owens at the hands of Susan Lorincz, the neighbourhood “karen” and an alleged doctor.
Back in 2023, 35-year-old Ajike, a mother of four, was fatally shot by Susan Lorincz after months of phoney 911 calls, throwing toys at kids, and racially-charged language. She fired one shot through her bolted front door, claiming that she felt her life was under threat by AJ banging on it.

Early in the documentary, after calling 911 over the neighbourhood kids running riot around her property, Susan recalled a conversation she had with one of the kids.
She said: “Listen, my name is Dr Lorincz. Don’t tell me to shut up. He was calling me names, and I was like ‘No, no, no, we’re not going to do that.'”
The only other piece of information we got about Susan’s working life was working from home, but it’s not clear whether she had a fully remote job or was working from home on that day. Here’s what we know about her work life.
What was Susan Lorincz’s job, because she claimed to be a doctor?
The part I find strange is Susan Lorincz telling the officers that the kids need to address her as “doctor” and she’s an insurance agent. https://t.co/vLAWrn8VFd

Details on Susan Lorincz’s job are incredibly scarce, but there are a few sources that claim her profession was in the insurance industry. She allegedly worked “steadily” in the field, largely handling insurance claims and administrative tasks through office work in Florida. It certainly supports the idea that she was a remote worker, as 69 per cent of insurance workers choose to work from home.

At the time of the horrific crime, people on Twitter claimed that Susan worked as an insurance agent for Teleperformance, a global digital business services company headquartered in France. The company responded, saying Susan was not “currently” employed by it.
Though you can get a doctorate in insurance or be a medical doctor working in the insurance field, all evidence seems to point to Susan’s claims being untrue. During her trial, her lawyer detailed some of her previous jobs that ranged from a chef to a home health aide.
People online certainly didn’t buy into what she was selling about being a doctor.
“The part I find strange is Susan Lorincz telling the officers that the kids need to address her as ‘doctor’ when she’s an insurance agent,” one person said on Twitter.
Another said on Reddit: “So glad someone else caught that because I thought I misheard her since NOTHING comes up when you Google it. It is BIZARRE.”
