‘I know it was her’: Man claims he’s ‘haunted’ following sighting of Amy Bradley

‘I saw the person’s face, I went bang, that’s it. That’s her’

A man has spoken out after what he’s claimed was a legitimate sighting of Amy Bradley after she vanished. In March 1988, Amy had been on a family holiday on a Royal Caribbean cruise ship. She was last seen on the family cabin’s balcony, after a night out on the boat. Since then, there have been a number of potential sightings.

Some people think Amy fell overboard, others think she was trafficked. A few months after Amy was reported missing, a couple of divers reported seeing her on a beach. Now, they’ve spoken out about what happened.

A Canadian tourist called David Carmichael claimed he saw Amy Bradley, on a popular Curaçao diving beach known as Playa Porto Marie. He said he saw a woman who had the same recognisable tattoos as Amy, with two men. Carmichael claimed the woman looked him up and down a few times, and he believed she was trying to communicate with him.

It was also said one of the men looked at him, before ushering the woman believed to be Amy away. “If he had not stared at me, I would have forgotten everything, but I can’t,” Carmichael said on Amy Bradley Is Missing. “I think about this every day. There isn’t a day goes by when I don’t.”

In reports taken from at the time, he added: “I am haunted by that encounter with Amy. I know it was her.” The FBI reportedly looked into the account, but were unable to corroborate the story.

Speaking on CNN, David Carmichael explained: “She [the woman he believed to be Amy] had her sunglasses up on her head. She stared right at me and just as she was about to say something.” He explained one of the men “came into my field of vision and motioned her away, didn’t touch her. He motioned her away.”

Carmichael added: “She turned around, put her head down and followed them over to a small cafe area where they sat and ordered drinks. They were actually by the bar. And every once in a while — she was facing outwards towards us so every once in a while she would sort of look over towards me and then look back down at the ground. She was sort of resting against a bar stool sort of looking out towards us.”

David Carmichael was then asked how sure he was it was Amy Bradley. He was asked: “What’s your level of certainty… from zero to a 100 per cent?” Carmichael replied: “I’d put it at 100 per cent.” He added: “I had no idea that this person was missing and didn’t until December of ’98 when I was watching America’s Most Wanted. And the minute I saw the person’s face, I went bang, that’s it. That’s her.”

There have also been a couple of sightings reported, since the Netflix documentary came out. One man shockingly claimed to have “rented” Amy from an escort website recently, and a police officer had a “verifiable” sighting of her in 2016.
