D4vd hires Harvey Weinstein’s defence lawyer after 15-year-old’s body was found in his car

Her other clients include Kanye West and Britney Spears

Despite not being officially named as a suspect, pop star D4vd has reportedly hired a high-powered defence lawyer whose previous clients include Harvey Weinstein and Reese Witherspoon.

Both the police and D4vd himself have been incredibly silent on the ongoing investigation into the death of 15-year-old Celeste Rivas, who was allegedly in a relationship with the singer before her disappearance in 2024. D4vd, whose real name is David Anthony Burke, was said to be “fully cooperating” with the investigation when the news first broke, but he has not commented on it since. His $20k a month LA rental was searched in September, with police taking several electronics in as evidence.

Though the internet has essentially acted as judge and jury throughout the case, analysing what they deem damning details from D4vd’s career, the police have not named him as a suspect, and he’s not been arrested. Despite that, he’s now allegedly hired a well-known Hollywood attorney.

Despite the LAPD suggesting that “criminal liability may not extend beyond the concealment of a body”, D4vd hired defence lawyer Blair Berk to represent him in the legal process, according to LA Magazine. Blair, who primarily deals with DUIs, public “scrapes,” and minor legal entanglements, has represented a range of notable celebrities.

Working primarily in the entertainment industry, Blair has represented names such as Harvey Weinstein, Lindsay Lohan, Kanye West, Mel Gibson, Britney Spears, and Reese Witherspoon throughout her career. Though not exactly known for her work in murder cases, her most recent defence case was for Monica Sementilli, the woman jailed for life after murdering her husband, celebrity hairstylist Fabio Sementilli.

Naturally, hiring a lawyer has led many to question whether D4vd is a suspect in the eyes of the Los Angeles Police Department.

“He’s already guilty just because he hired this person,” one person said.

Another wrote: “Oh, you could not pay me enough to defend this dude. The evidence against is as big as Mount Everest.”

Despite D4vd hiring a lawyer, private investigator Steve Fischer theorised that it’s for the “PR nightmare” and not because he’s being treated as a suspect.

“From that news release, it sounds like concealment of a body is probably what we’re looking at,” he said.
