Police detail Celeste Rivas’ long history of disappearances before her death in D4vd’s Tesla
More details are emerging
Police have revealed that 15-year-old Celeste Rivas, the girl found dead in the trunk of singer D4vd’s Tesla, had a long history of running away from home, with investigators now focusing on her “troubled” family background as they try to understand what led to her death.
On the 8th September, a decomposing body was found in a car registered to singer D4vd, real name David Anthony Burke. The remains were not intact and it appeared the girl had been dead for an extended period of time, according to law enforcement sources cited by NBC News.

The sources state that Rivas ran away “multiple times” in the year before she died. The LAPD’s Robbery Homicide Division is piecing together her history, working closely with Riverside County officials, who say her Lake Elsinore family reported her missing on at least two occasions. Detectives now believe issues at home may have pushed Celeste to repeatedly leave.
One liquor store owner told TMZ that in March 2024, Celeste’s sister came into his shop asking to review security footage after another disappearance. A teacher also confirmed she had gone missing back in January 2024, and was eventually found a month later in the Hollywood Hills, not far from where D4vd lives. A month later, she went missing for the final time.

Sources also told TMZ that Celeste had “multiple fake IDs,” which helped her pass as much older and survive on her own.
Her body was identified after her mother told reporters about a ‘Shhh’ tattoo on Celeste’s right index finger and mentioned she was dating someone named David, a detail police are now examining closely. Detectives subsequently searched the Hollywood Hills residence where D4vd had been staying, looking specifically for blood evidence, though it’s not known what they found.
Police have not confirmed whether D4vd is a suspect, and so far, no arrests have been made.
For now, investigators are combing through Celeste’s history of disappearances and her difficult home life in the hopes of piecing together how she ended up dead inside the singer’s car.
