Top six students deals around Edinburgh this year

Here are the very best student deals to help save your money, tried and tested by our own team.

Being a student in one of the most expensive cities in the UK can be tough. That’s why I’ve devised a list of student savings around Edinburgh, in the hopes you’ll be able to avoid your overdraft. You’re welcome x

Hard Rock

Edinburgh’s Hard Rock Cafe offers an amazing student discount accompanied by fun promotions throughout the week.  We had the pleasure of trying out their “Winning Wednesday” deal.  It included a bottle of house wine, which comes with free chicken dippers. These delicious dippers and wine are the perfect pre-drinks ensemble to indulge in before your Freshers’ night out.  The food was delicious, we all got their famous burgers, which were nothing short of perfection, followed by a brownie, which we all shared as we were stuffed. If wine isn’t your thing, Hard Rock offer other weekday deals, including “Tako Tiki Tuesday” and “Throwback Thursday” for all your food and drink needs. As if this wasn’t enough, they also offer a 20 per cent off student discount with a valid student ID across the menu. These deals run beyond Freshers’ week, so don’t worry if you don’t snap them up this week; they are here to stay.

Jazz bar

Midnight onwards on Wednesday and Thursday, students get free entry to Jazz Bar, an Edinburgh institution that cannot be missed. Alongside drink discounts and cheaper entry on Friday and Saturday. These deals offer a great opportunity to try out an old town classic and add a wee bit of culture to your uni experience. As Scotland’s longest-standing independent Jazz venue, it is always a night to remember. These student cards are available at the Jazz bar and have been handed out at many fresher events, so count your luck if you snagged one.

I spy a cheap (but classy) night out

Black Sheep Coffee

For the coffee lovers (or anything related), check out Black Sheep Coffee’s array of beverages. Freshers’ week can be tiring work, so a pick-me-up is always essential, and what better than a discounted drink to keep you going. Black Sheep Coffee offer a 20 per cent student discount for any drink on the menu, with a Unidays/Student Beans code or a valid student ID. I was seriously amazed at the selection, I got myself a Strawberries and Cream matcha (yes I’m basic). Furthermore, Black Sheep Coffee offer students any ice/hot drink for £2 every Monday using the Unidays/Student Beans app or student card. Black Sheep Coffee has six locations around the city centre, making it super accessible.

Deliveroo

Over the years at uni, I don’t even want to know how much I have spent on takeaways and food delivery. However, Deliveroo’s student deal softens the monetary blow, and it’s a deal I wish I knew about sooner (no gatekeeping around here). With Deliveroo, students get free delivery on all orders over £15 and exclusive offers and rewards online. Staying in Edinburgh has many benefits, but I must admit one of my favourites is the vast choice of food delivery and cuisines which I don’t normally get at home, so this deal is definitely up my street. Sometimes, treating yourself with some gluttony after a club social or during a study break is necessary, so make use of this gem for all your takeaway needs.

Cheeky sweet treat?

Caesar Salad and diet Coke is an elite combo, prove me wrong…

O’Neils (formerly The Tron)

Rest well, fallen soldier, no longer The Tron, now O’Neils. We don’t care what ever it’s called, cause in our eyes it’s the ultimate student pub, and I’m happy to share that they are offering 20 per cent off your total bill. This is the perfect opportunity to try out their new food menu and have a snoop at the new refreshments if you haven’t already. Some students might be sad that Tron is officially dead, but with the pool table and staff firmly stagnant, the fun vibes are well and truly alive.

Wasn’t going to drink tonight but the Tron shut down…
