What we didn’t see! Travis Kelce’s dad and pal spill secret Taylor Swift proposal details
This is exactly how he popped the question
Taylor Swift and Travis Kelce blew up the internet when they announced their engagement yesterday, and his dad and friends have now revealed some secret details about the proposal we didn’t see.
They announced the happy news on Instagram, sharing adorable pics of them in a flower-filled garden with the caption: “Your English teacher and your gym teacher are getting married.”
Travis’ dad Ed Kelce told News 5 that Travis got down on one knee and asked Taylor to marry him almost two weeks ago in the garden of his Lee’s Summit, Missouri house.
“He was going to put it off until this week. I think she was getting maybe a little antsy, but he was going to put her off until this week to, you know, make some grand thing, to make it a big special event,” he said.
“I told him repeatedly, you know, you could do it on the side of the road, do it any place that makes it a special event… when you get down on one knee and ask her to marry you.
“He got her out there, they were about to go out to dinner, and he said, ‘Let’s go out and have a glass of wine’. They got out there, and that’s when he asked her, and it was beautiful.”

“They started FaceTiming me and their mother and her folks to make sure everybody knew. So, to see them together is great,” he continued. “I got a FaceTime call from them, and as soon as I saw the FaceTime, I saw it was Travis, and then I saw Taylor there with him. I knew what they were going to say.”

A source close to Travis also told The Sun “it was a very well-kept secret” and only their mums, dad and the NFL player’s brother Jason and his wife knew about it, because “Travis wanted to keep it a ‘women’s circle’ secret for the most part”.
“They helped him with the design and the choice of flowers and the set, and no other friends, agents, or guys knew about it until after it happened,” the mystery friend added. “It probably took more than 40 shop visits and 100 Zoom calls and meetings with jewellery experts to find what he looked for.
“He called me and was so excited; he yelled when he told me he had asked for her hand, saying, ‘I did it! Woohoo!’ You can tell this is another big step forward in his personal life. He is the happiest man on Earth right now.”
Apparently, he’d been planning the romantic moment for more than a year!
