Millie Bobby Brown and Jake Bongiovi have been teasing the adoption for months, and we missed it

On Thursday, Millie Bobby Brown and her hubby, Jake Bongiovi, revealed that their family unit – which includes just about every kind of animal on the planet – had expanded to include a new baby through adoption.

“This summer, we welcomed our sweet baby girl through adoption. We are beyond excited to embark on this beautiful next chapter of parenthood in both peace and privacy,” Millie announced in a very aesthetic Instagram post. “And then there were 3. Love, Millie and Jake Bongiovi.”

Though the world is obviously thrilled for the young couple, even moreso because they adopted from the growing list of children in need of a home, we honestly should have seen it coming.

The Netflix leading lady has been teasing it for months, and we should all feel a little silly for not predicting it sooner.

Millie Bobby Brown teased the adoption in March

During an appearance on the SmartLess podcast in March, with Jason Bateman and Will Arnett, Millie Bobby Brown openly discussed wanting to go through adoption with Jake Bongiovi.

“I don’t see having your own child, you know, as really any different as in adopting,” she explained. “For me, like, my home is full of love for anyone and anything, and so that is what we stand by, Jake and I — our energy in the house is like, ‘The door is always open.”

Considering the adoption process takes ages, even for people as loaded as Millie and Jake, it’s reasonable to assume they had already decided on undertaking the process four months ago.

She always wanted to be a young mum

In the same interview, Millie said she wanted to follow in the footsteps of her mum by having her first kid fairly young. Her mother, Kelly Brown, was also 21 when she had her first baby.

She said, “My mom actually had her first child at 21, and my dad was 19. And you know, it’s been my thing since before I met Jake. Since I was a baby, I told my mom, like, baby dolls. I wanted to be a mom just like the way my mom was to me. And my nan, my grandmother, was a huge part of my life.”

Jake Bongiovi wanted to get married before having a child

Though Millie Bobby Brown was open to expanding the family without a sparkling ring on her hand, Jake Bongiovi was insistent on tying the knot first.

“Jake was like, we cannot do that until we get married,” she revealed. “So that was his thing. And my thing was, I really want a family. I really want a big family. I’m one of four. He’s one of four. So, it is definitely in our future.”

Turns out that the future was a lot closer than we all expected, because between tying the knot in 2024 and welcoming the little tot, it’s been 16 months.

There was a viral Instagram post

Though it’s not clear whether it was the same child, Millie shared a picture of Jake playing with a baby a few months ago. Her followers went nuts in the comments, questioning whether it was their kid.

“The last photo, you reveal something to us??????” one follower asked, as another simply wrote “mummy.”
