Love Island’s Harry shares the final words he said to Helena and where they stand now
Shakira must be rolling her eyes
After a turbulent few weeks dumping Helena and then going back to Shakira, Harry somehow managed to make it all the way to the Love Island 2025 final. He ended the show with Shakira, as he so defiantly said he would, and the couple ended as runners up.
But, the streets won’t forget what got them there. Harry had been with Shakira, sacked her off for Helena, went exclusive with Helena and then said he was “burying” feelings for Shakira, and dumped her. In the last week or so of the show, it was a quick fix up for Shakira and Harry to try and repair their relationship, which given they then came second, seemed to work.
Now, Harry has spoken out about his rocky Love Island road with Helena, and where they stand now. “I definitely regret some of the ways I handled a lot of situations. I think I have learned from them,” he said. “The main thing was not following my heart when I knew I should have. And not having more time together as a couple [with Shakira].”

Speaking to Amy Hart and Indiyah Polack on The Morning After podcast, Harry shared more about the final exchange he had with Helena. “I obviously hurt [Helena’s] feelings and I didn’t handle things the right way, but at the end of the day, I went after what I wanted,” he said.

“I’m not in the business of hurting people’s feelings, that’s not what I was trying to do. I was really trying to move things forward. I think we were great friends and before she left, she said to me we can still be friends, which is a great thing for me.” Harry later added the reason he and Helena didn’t work out was because “it wasn’t, like, there”.
In his exit interview from the show, Harry also said he’s learned a lot about himself from this process. “I think for me I’ve learned a lot about communication and how that needs to improve. I think it has over the past eight weeks,” he explained.
“I’ve always done what I wanted to do and gone about a lot of it in the wrong way, but I like to think I got a lot better at it. And to wear my heart on my sleeve. My natural instinct is to bottle things and not talk about them. It really pays to say things.”
