People have worked out why Dejon apologised for Love Island behaviour with ‘PR speech’
He confessed he had to ‘reflect on his actions’
The eruptions of cheers around the nation last night when Meg and Dejon were dumped from Love Island by a jury of their returning Islanders could probably be heard from Mars. The couple have been widely criticised by those of us outside the villa for their carry on and seeming incapability – they truly have spent most of it arguing. I think it must have finally hit home for Meg and Dejon that people aren’t sold on the pair when not just the viewers weren’t having it, but the majority of people who’ve lived amongst them weren’t either. After a speedy dumping, the pair appeared on Aftersun to get a grilling from Maya Jama – and Dejon suddenly apologised for his Love Island behaviour. People are now saying the real reason he apologised with ‘PR speech’ so fast after the defiance he showed in the villa, and it’s VERY interesting.
He suddenly says he needs to ‘reflect on his actions’
Maya Jama quickly interrogated Meg and Dejon on how they felt about not making it to the Love Island final – especially since the pair seemed to want to win really badly. They were the only day one couple, after all – and the only pair to become officially boyfriend and girlfiend.
Dejon said “We definitely expected it. We were really ready to go home, to be honest. I mentioned to the few boys that, like, I feel like my Love Island experience is finished because I came here and got what I wanted with Meg.”
Dejon and Meg claimed the reason other couples stayed over them was because the two of them were past their ‘honeymoon period’, so they feel like their arguments are more natural and the others will have that to come.

“It was interesting the way that we got dumped, because I feel like the decisions were definitely… you kind of heard from both people’s point of view,” Dejon said. “Some people saw bad things and some people saw good things. So it definitely made me in this time of being like reflect on my actions over the villa.”

Maya quizzed Dejon on whether he thought people saw a game plan for Love Island, and he apologised for his behaviour and the way it all got perceived. “Yeah, definitely.
“Coming in, I just thought, I’m on Love Island. I’m gonna explore connections, I’m gonna be flirty, I’m gonna see what my strongest connection was,” he explained “But in the back of my head, I always knew it was Meg, so I definitely see why that kind of… there’s a lot of opinions about that, and I feel like I could have explored connections with being less flirty and stuff.
“I definitely understand why people have their opinions regarding that, and even there’s times that, honestly, she’s stuck by me, and she tells me how she feels, and she stuck by me more than more than she should. More than I deserve a lot of times. I’m very, very grateful for her, and now hopefully I can show what she deserves.”
These comments didn’t go down great with viewers online though – with a lot of people claiming it all felt like PR speech.
“The PR tour has started already with Meg and Dejon” wrote one. “Giving too much PR don’t let Dejon get away with it,” noted a second, while yet another: “Dejon doing the old PR routine in this interview.”
It’s not been the finest season for these two.
