Erm, TikTok has a new royal conspiracy theory and frankly, it’s wild

The biggest new royal conspiracy theory is doing the rounds online right now, and it’s genuinely unhinged.

We’ve had Beyonce taking out celebrities who don’t thank her in acceptance speeches and Trisha Paytas causing a celebrity death and reincarnation every time she gives birth, but now a new theory is taking over the internet.

However, the latest one, wait for it, is that Princess Beatrice is actually a robot.

A clip of her from the 2018 Met Gala has suddenly resurfaced and gone viral because she barely blinks and people think her movements are way too stiff. Basically, social media is convinced she’s an animatronic royal being trialled at high profile events.

In the clip, Beatrice is standing at the bottom of the Met steps in her red carpet gown doing slow, and admittedly mechanical, movements. Her facial expression is frozen and her eyes barely move or blink despite the flashing of the paparazzi cameras. Honestly, it does look a bit uncanny.

Naturally, the internet has taken this and run with it. TikTokers have analysed the footage frame by frame and concluded that she’s “a replacement bot”, or an “AI Android Robot”. One TikToker even claimed:  “All the royals are long gone.” Spooky.

Some more optimistic users suggested that high profile figures are now using robots to make appearances for them at events. They do have busy schedules, I guess. 

X was similarly gobsmacked by the footage, although users had mixed opinions on the explanation. Whilst one user claimed “something looks wrong”, another commented: “IMO that’s a robot.”

Other social media users also came to the conclusion that the video “has to be AI generated”, with one adding: “All the flashing cameras and not one blink?” Maybe she’s just a professional?

More empathetic (and rational) social media users have proposed that she was just nervous as the Met Gala is such a big event, calling her “a deer in the headlights”.

Others have also theorised she was just trying way too hard to not be caught blinking in her red carpet photos. Although, it has been suggested that how to hold still and refrain from blinking is training royals receive from a young age to ensure they get snapped in perfect photos. Maybe Beatrice missed those classes? 

However, it’s not the first time the royals have been the subject of online conspiracies. In the past, TikTokers have suggested that the Queen was a lizard and that Camilla Parker Bowles wears an over the head mask of skin. But this one has to be is up there with the wildest yet.

So, is Princess Beatrice actually a robot royal deployed to gala events as a test run? Probably not. Does the clip make her look like she’s stuck mid-software update? A little bit, yes.
