Squid Game creator confirms he has a huge spin off idea and I need this now
‘I have to make it’
The creator of Squid Game has shared some big ideas about a spin off for the show. I’m listening so hard right now.
Season three of the show has just dropped on Netflix, and with that the games are over. Don’t worry, there are no spoilers here and you’re safe to read on if you haven’t finished!
The last episodes of season two ended with the remaining players attempting a rebellion against the guards and those who runs the games. It failed, and then the end teased that the games will continue until season three. So now, we’re ready to see how it all concludes. Which is exciting on one hand, but sad on the other because it’s previously been reported that after that, there will be no more Squid Game.
However, Squid Game creator Hwang Dong-hyuk spoke to The Metro about the future of his show, and shared some very interesting ideas regarding a potential spin off. It might not be all over!

Whilst the show as we know it is definitely over after season three, Dong-hyuk has confirmed he has plans on expanding his universe with a spin off series. This could come in the form of a flash forward to see some of the survivors as they are now, or a flashback, to see the beginning of the games.
“This is just some ideas that I’ve been throwing around during production. But there’s a three-year gap between season one and two, since Gi-hun turns away from the plane,” he said.

“So I’d like to maybe look into the lives of those behind the mask, the Front Man, the Recruiter and Captain Park. How did they meet? What did they do during the three years? How did they stay on top of Gi-hun and whatnot? So that’s something that I’m thinking about. I have to make it!”
Lee Byung-hun, who plays The Front Man, added: “I’m sure that’s going to be a very gripping story, since Squid Game is already beloved by the entire globe. If there is a spin off, or maybe a sequel or prequel, I’m sure people would love it. And if there is one, I would love to join the universe once again.”
