MAFS Australia’s Ella Ding is pregnant, but being dragged for making reveal post an advert

‘Wow making money off the baby already? It’s a child not content’

MAFS Australia star Ella May Ding has just revealed she’s pregnant, but the post has had some backlash. That’s because she revealed her happy news on Instagram, in a monetised sponsored post.

Ella May Ding is married to Guy Palermo, and the couple recently shared their one year anniversary. They got married just two months after revealing they were engaged, and a year after going public with their relationship.

Now, they’ve shared their biggest milestone news yet. But it’s been hit with criticism.

Ella May Ding announced her pregnancy, but the reveal post was sponsored

Ella has just revealed she’s pregnant with her first child. On Instagram, she said: “Somewhere between healing and hustling, the next chapter quietly chose us. Baby Palermo you’ve already made our story sweeter and given us the best news of 2025 yet.”

But then it became clear the post was a monetised advert, in a brand deal with pregnancy test company, Clearblue. The caption added: “#ad #ClearblueConfirmed. Always read the label and follow the directions for use.” People have dragged Ella for “monetising” her baby.

It looks as though Ella has been deleting comments on the post since, as the post has 94k likes, over 2,000 shares but only a handful of comments remain. Before being deleted, one comment said: “Nooo this feels off being an ad. Is this the official announcement? Congratulations either way.”

Another said: “Wow making money off the baby already? How desperate are you for cash? I hope you won’t be exploiting this baby for content when it’s born. It’s a child not content.”

Reddit has also been discussing the choice to make the post an advert. “Wish her the best but is anything this girl does not an ad at this point,” one person said. “An ad to announce a pregnancy.. very odd,” someone else said.

Others questioned the logistics of this kind of brand deal, given Ella would have to be the one to approach the brand and tell them she thinks she might be pregnant. They said: “This is so cringe because she would have literally had to approach Clearblue, tell them that she’s pregnant, and ask if they’d like to pay her for announcing it on Instagram.”

Domenica Calarco has of course waded in

If you’re not fully up to date, fellow MAFS star Domenica Calarco used to be Ella’s bestie, but they’ve been locked in a huge feud recently. Ella’s pregnancy was shared to @influencer.updates.au on Instagram, and Domenica was straight there to share her two pence.

“Even has to monetise her pregnancy announcement. Some people will never change. Wow,” she wrote of her former best friend. Ouch.
