Birmingham Uni Fashion Week: Here are the fits you’re bound to see on campus this spring

From the trackies wearing library dweller to the students who’ve waited all year for just a little sun, we’re clocking the UoB fashion scene this spring

As the summer term approaches, University of Birmingham students are finally able to ditch the knitwear for something a little lighter.

Whether you’re rocking the florals this term or just trying to make it through exam season with your favourite hoodie and a dream, we’re diving right into what everyone is wearing this spring!

The Exam Final Boss

Don’t be fooled by their consistent library routine and impressive commitment to revision—this uni student is holding on by the tips of their fingers and is perpetually five energy drinks deep.

They’re the final boss of exam season, and they look the part: Jumper and trackie bottoms combo, a backpack bursting with snacks, colour-coded notes, and under that White Fox hoodie you know is a UoB t-shirt that’s been worn a few days in a row.

You won’t miss these individuals as they stare furiously at their laptops and single-handedly fund the library café’s coffee supply, and honestly, we salute them.

The False Summer Victim

This Birmingham Uni student has pulled the jorts out way too early. This student saw 12 seconds of sunshine and thought it was time to debut their summer wardrobe. Unfortunately, it’s still Britain, and it’s six degrees with a 100 per cent chance of disappointment.

You’ll see this student in the cutest cropped tee and a stylish maxi skirt paired with worn vintage sneakers. Alas, their excellent sense of style will be overshadowed by their teeth chattering and visible shivering. They’re ready to dress like it’s Love Island but the weather said Silent Hill.

The Florals Advocate

You thought florals had gone out of fashion? This Birmingham Uni student is here to prove you very wrong.

They’ve waited patiently all winter for this moment: Paisley skirts, daisy-printed tops, camis dotted with flowers in every pastel shade. From March to May, they look like Easter threw up on them—and they’re not sorry about it. Is it extra? Absolutely. Do we respect it? Also yes.

The Sun Denier

You could call this student false summer victim’s cold and distant cousin. The sun denier is not happy about the warm weather and will be wearing their chunky sweater collection well into June.

They have emotionally committed to hibernation mode and refuse to be dragged into spring’s lies. But give them a break, their favourite season has just passed and now they must begrudgingly endure summer and its heat.

You can spot them a mile away in their black puffer jackets, jeans that could double as insulation, and oversized knitted sweaters. Approach with caution—they’re definitely sweating buckets under all those layers.

The Weatherman

Honestly, the weatherman has it all figured out—perhaps to a fault. They know spring in one of the rainiest countries in the world means even more rain. You’ll never catch them slipping—they’ve got the waterproofs, the sensible footwear, and an umbrella that could double as a tent. This man looks like his life peaked at gold DofE. We can laugh now, but when those storm clouds roll in out of nowhere, the weatherman will be the one having the last laugh.

The Graduate

You’ll spot them from a mile away; glowing, gown-clad, and desperately searching for the best angle in front of Old Joe. These final year students are chasing that dream grad photo, complete with white dresses, pastel shirts, and a thousand takes to get the wind to cooperate.

They’ve survived dissertations, deadlines, and at least one existential crisis per semester. A spring photo shoot is the least they deserve. Get that golden hour lighting, you academic icon.

No matter which type of student you are this spring, we know you’re absolutely rocking it. Honestly, whatever fit gets you through that final stretch to summer break is nothing short of iconic. So whether you’re powering through in waterproofs or floating by in maxi skirts, keep serving looks, summer’s waiting for you!
