‘He made two dresses’: Halle Berry reveals the reason she wore *that* x-rated Met Gala outfit
She had two options but ultimately went for shock value
Amidst awful representation of the theme and some of the most gorgeous dresses to date, Halle Berry’s x-rated Met Gala outfit seemingly flew under the radar until we were collectively confronted by the shadow of her pubic area on Twitter.
During Monday night’s star-studded event in New York City, Halle Berry outright skipped underwear as she slipped into a cheeky number from renowned designer LaQuan Smith. The dress itself featured a plunging neckline, sheer pannelling, shimmering beads, and a suit jacket to keep with the theme, but prudes on Twitter accused Halle of being “disgusting” for risking a viral wardrobe malfunction. Still, x-rated red carpet moments are a regular occurrence or had we forgotten Bianca Censori’s Grammys garb?
“Wrong in so many ways,” one person wrote on Twitter, as another quipped, “Halle Berry is still hot but doesn’t need to dress like that.”
Is this dress a daring fashion choice or a tacky, barely-covering-the-hoo-haw disaster…what’s your take, folks? 😬

“Halle… my girl. I expected more from you. We get it. The body is bodying and you have aged like a fine, fine wine. But this is not the move,” another wrote.
God forbid a woman dresses how she wants to, but that being said, the decision to wear the dress was something she didn’t think too hard about.
Okay, so why did Halle Berry wear that dress to the Met Gala?
Speaking to E! News about a second dress, Halle Berry explained how she was torn between two “gorgeous” Met Gala dresses from LaQuan Smith, who had also dressed Ciara for the evening.
“It was so fun and so easy,” she said while scoffing Raising Cane’s after the event. “He showed me some sketches. I chose two that I really liked, so he made two dresses.”

When it came down to actually picking the dress for the event, Halle left it up to the designer, explaining: “The dresses were gorgeous. I could hardly choose. I asked LaQuan, ‘Which one would you like me to wear?’ So, I chose his favourite.”
According to LaQuan in his interview with Vogue, the ensemble was designed to be “a mix of sexy-Bond-girl meets Harlem Renaissance”, and let’s be honest, he totally pulled it off. It may have taken 1,455 hours to complete, and Halle wasn’t able to eat for the entire day, but it’s one Met Gala look we won’t be forgetting anytime soon.
“It captures the theme’s message of self-expression and being bold in the way that you look and dress,” he added. “The dress’s details showcase the ethos of the theme: exaggerated lines, luxurious fabrics, and sheer boldness.”
