Doechii is getting accused of ‘mistreating’ her team in these viral videos from the Met Gala

The way she speaks to her staff is dividing the internet

Doechii has found herself at the centre of a bit of drama after her Met Gala appearance on Monday, with videos going viral of her speaking in a heated and urgent manner to staff as she prepared to arrive at fashion’s biggest event. It all was seemingly kicking off in the hotel before she set off to the event, with videos captured of her speaking in a “rude” manner to her team going viral and the internet is currently split on what was going down and if her tone was justified.

Was she rude, was she stressed, or both? Here’s what’s been going down.

It was chaotic

Doechii has had a mad year where she’s blown up from underground star with critical acclaim to huge commercial success, so all eyes were on her for the Met Gala this year and clearly she wanted to impress. As the rapper prepared to leave The Mark Hotel she was mobbed by paparazzi, and her team surrounded her with wardrobe screens to try and get her out of the building without too many spoilers of her outfit.

To keep cameras off and shield her from the rain, the viral clips show Doechii shouting and demanding more umbrellas to cover the top in a way that has led to people online accusing her of “mistreating” her team.

“Yes, I’m ready.” Doechii says. She then shouted, “Give me another umbrella, now!” before adding, “And another, go!” With her team frantically to try and not get her hair wet.

Some on Twitter / X were calling out Doechii for “mistreating” staff at Met Gala. “Love Doechii but she was talking crazy to them. I would’ve said f*** the damn umbrellas,” wrote one.

Another wrote: “That’s why I could never be a famous person’s assistant because you aren’t going to talk to me like that.” With a third saying “All that drama for an outfit that doesn’t even hit, she needs to chill with the attitude,” a third added. A bit harsh, IMO – the outfit DEFFO hit.

Although, of course, there are two sides. To be fair to Doechii, it was clearly a flustered situation and when you’re new to this level of fame you want everything to go perfectly. One tweet defending her said “‘The question is why is SHE micromanaging… Shouldn’t there be someone paid to oversee and make sure that she’s covered?”

“Quit giving her such a hard time it was probably just her anxiety,” said another. Great reference.
