This haunting detail everyone missed in Black Mirror’s Common People is truly sickening

It gives me chills

People have spotted a haunting detail that everyone missed in Black Mirror season seven’s first episode, Common People.

The chilling story is about a man who saves his wife with a crazy new technology called Rivermind that fixes her brain after she unexpectedly falls into a coma.

It seems brilliant at first, but they soon realise that Rivermind doesn’t actually care about the people and the whole thing is one big profit scam.

We can actually see how much money the evil company is making by the clothes the Rivermind saleswoman is wearing, a detail that nobody picked up on.

When Mike first goes to the office, she’s wearing a pretty basic saleswoman’s outfit, a white shirt with a pink blazer, but they gradually get more expensive-looking.

The second time, she’s sporting a purple blazer, then the third visit is an oversized grey one that looks a lot pricier.

However, the fourth and fifth visits are where you notice it the most, with the woman wearing a very luxe nude suit and then a brown collarless blazer at the end.

It’s only a really subtle detail, but the progression of the outfits shows that she’s able to afford more expensive clothes because of the money Rivermind is making.

She goes from a normal saleswoman when the company is new to a rich manager as the company makes more and more profit from the evil subscription model.

Ultimately, that’s the whole point of the business. They are pretending they want to help sick people get better, but their sole mission is to make money.

“That’s such a great catch! I totally missed that detail the first time around too. It’s a really clever way to show how the system profits off people’s struggles,” one person wrote on Reddit.

Another said: “On the second visit I thought something looked different and then it hit me on the third visit. I love these little attentions to detail in Black Mirror.”

The thought of Rivermind profiting from people’s illnesses truly gives me chills.
