Rhi admits she regrets not backing Jamie during huge fight at the MAFS Australia retreat

She’s explained what she wishes she’d done differently

The MAFS retreat has kicked off big time. The girls are at each other’s throats, and it looks like a huge cast divide is upon us. The centre of the argument was Jamie and Lauren, and now Rhi has said she regrets not taking Jamie’s side more. Rhi has reflected on what went down at the MAFS Australia couples’ retreat, and how she should have defended pal Jamie.

As soon as the cast touched down in Byron Bay it was clear there was going to be drama. Drinks were flowing and suddenly everyone’s true opinions became obvious. Lauren branded some of the other girls “drunk” and “boganic” and Jamie stood her ground and wasn’t having any of it. It turned into a fiery showdown.

During the episode, Rhi was quite a middle ground person in the arguments. She has a friendship with Jamie, but also spoke to Lauren and gave her some understanding. Jamie was fuming Rhi didn’t stand up for her more. But now, having watched the episodes for herself, she’s said she hugely regrets not backing Jamie up.

Speaking to 9Entertainment, Rhi admitted she would have done things differently now, if she had the chance. She admitted she had no idea Lauren had been calling the girls things such as “feral” and “boganic” behind their backs.

“Obviously you have no idea what people say behind the scenes,” she said. “I feel like if I had seen a lot of the things that were said about us – because she [Lauren] referred to all of the girls – I probably wouldn’t have been as supportive in that circumstance.”

She did say however, that she spoke to Lauren about calling the other girls names. Rhi added: “I said multiple times throughout the night, ‘you can’t keep calling us those names, they’re really immature and petty’. I didn’t realise how much she was actually doing it. Watching the episode back, I was really shocked with how much she was putting everybody down.

“I didn’t look at it like, I’m not standing up for Jamie. I thought to myself, ‘I give up’. I’ve already tried to talk to [Lauren] about her behaviour and it just wasn’t getting anywhere.” She said during their chats, Lauren was instead “doubling down on sh*tty comments”.

Rhi admitted it got to the point where she didn’t think chatting to Lauren was going to have any benefit. “I felt like I was in a lose-lose situation,” she said. “Maybe I should have doubled-down. I guess I could have spoken up a little bit more. I hope that Jamie could see that I did stand up for her in my own way. We are very different people, we communicated differently.”
