Adrian’s former bestie is an influencer and there was a movement to ‘boycott’ her after MAFS

So, after the huge backlash to *that* MAFS Australia lunch during friends and family week, there was a huge movement to “boycott” the friend that came to support Adrian. No, really, people took the show that seriously.

Adrian’s friend Jasmin came along to the lunch with Awhina, alongside Awhina’s sister Cleo, and Adrian’s two sisters. It all kicked off. The two sides clashed over Adrian and Awhina’s relationship, with neither wanting to hear it from the other’s side. It ended with Jasmin not coming off too well, as she defended Adrian – when we at home had seen how he’d previously treated Awhina.

Since the show has aired, Jasmin has apologised for defending Adrian. She’s said since she saw the show, and the bigger picture, she has apologised to Awhina and her sister Cleo, and cut ties with Adrian all together. But, that wasn’t enough for some people.

Outside of being friends with Adrian, Jasmin is an influencer and food blogger. She goes by Jasmin Eats, and has over 400k Instagram followers. From her successful career, she’s become an author. Her debut book is called Everyday Eats: Simple skills, recipes and advice to up your cooking game.

But following her controversial MAFS Australia appearance, people took it a bit too far. There was an entire movement to “Boycott Jasmin Eats” on TikTok. People shared videos of themselves hiding her book in stores so people couldn’t buy it, and the videos got millions of views.

“Looks better down there,” one person said. This was alongside a video of them taking Jasmin’s book off a shop shelf, and hiding it underneath. “HAHAHA. I’m so going to Kmart tomorrow to do the same,” one person said.

Since the show, the book has also been faced with a wave of one star reviews on Google. “Seeing how she acted on MAFS to another woman, can’t believe I ever supported her,” one negative review said. Another added: “Not particularly willing to support someone who acts as horribly and cruel as she did on national TV.”

Defending herself after the backlash, Jasmin said on Instagram: “I take full responsibility for my actions and the things I say during that interaction. It is not at all the best version of myself and I have since reached out to Awhina and Cleo to apologise.”

She added: “I can be a reactive person and will always come to my friends’ defence in any situation which is what you will see unfold.”

There’s no denying Jasmin came across badly, but let’s maybe leave the cookbooks alone.
