Here’s what your University of Birmingham study space says about you

Whether it’s assignment season or not, we all have that one go to study space. So here is what that special place says about you…

At the University of Birmingham it’s a shared experience to have a study space that you love, tried and tested by relentless assignments and deadlines. So whether you’re a fresher, second year student or in the final year trenches, here’s what that place says about you.

Arts Building

Starting off strong with the Arts Building, at the heart of UoB campus. This is where you will find (unless you are) the edgy student who loves a graphic band tee or has vibrantly dyed hair.

Always packed and loud, it is where you sit with your friends and can eat your lunch, with a side of work, hold the judgment. Normally as loud as anything, you sit here if you just want a yap to be honest!

Library: Ground Floor

Onto the Library, the golden bank of Birmingham Uni’s campus, with so many study spot stereotypes that it just has to be broken down into the top notable locations.

So, the ground floor. Let’s be real, you probably just can’t be bothered to walk or get the lift if you sit here, and no judgement, we have all done it.

Library: Second floor

As soon as you step onto this floor you may as well be shouting you’ve arrived at the library. Most likely a fresher or second year who enjoys a yap, taking breaks in the Library Cafe to yap even more. But honestly who could blame you!

Library: Third Floor

Now this is the big league, UoB Library “veterans”, AKA final year students in the trenches.

You will normally be found on this floor in one of your rotating cubby whole sections. People who sit in the cubbies give off: “I meal prepped lunch today,” and usually have a whole Apple ecosystem spread across their desk. Honestly, go you!

Hey Brew

Specifically the back section of Hey Brew is where you will find the gossip girlies who situate themselves with laptops out just for the vibes and their daily intake of Selly drama. A brilliant place to do chilled or group work with a side of fab coffee, and a solid sweet treat.

Old Gym

Zennest of the zen. This spot is usually so calm and filled with people who match that same calm vibe. If you want a chat you are respectful and keep it at a whisper. Always a pleasure to be around Old Gym goers and sit in this study spot.
