The real circumstances around Adrian’s abrupt MAFS exit aren’t exactly how it was on the show

He said it had ‘nothing to do with the shoot’ and he was asked to leave?!

MAFS Australia 2025 took an abrupt turn last night when it appeared groom Adrian had got up and left the experiment over a photo shoot. Yes, really.

He seemed to be annoyed he hadn’t been invited to a press shoot including members of the MAFS cast, so had packed his bags and left wife Awhina behind. Awhina rang him up wondering where on earth he had been, as all that was left was his wedding ring, discarded on the side.

On the phone, Adrian explained he felt so wronged by not being invited to the shoot, he’d left MAFS. Awhina couldn’t quite believe it, and honestly girl same, as a photo shoot isn’t really the reason he should have signed up for the show.

‘I was told to leave, so I got my bags and went’

Since the episode has aired, Adrian has shared what actually went down surrounding his exit, and he tells a very different story. He has claimed he wasn’t the one who chose to leave, he was actually told to by production. He said the “promo shoot” in question was filming a red flags and green flags social video which he found “cringe” and didn’t want to take part in.

“I went and sat in a tent for 20 minutes. It was 30 degrees plus that day in a warehouse and now I’m stuck in the tent,” he told Yahoo Lifestyle. “They wouldn’t even let me leave. So I was sitting there, I was getting angry, and I was like, ‘You know what? I’m going. I’m not waiting three hours for them to finish just to go do some red flags and green flags [videos]’. Like, get out of here. Who cares? I didn’t want to do that, I think it’s quite cringe anyway.”

He the claimed: “This woman [believed to be a producer] just kept yelling and yelling and yelling and I’m like, ‘Alright, see you later, I’m not sitting here going back and forth over something so stupid’. And then she goes, ‘Pack your bags and leave the experiment’. And I go, ‘Okay, no worries’.”

Adrian has claimed the producer “didn’t have control” over him, so the shoot was the “final straw”. He claimed: “It had nothing to do with the promo. If I cared, why wouldn’t I have stayed for the next six hours of the day? But I didn’t. The only person that was getting hurt that day by leaving was me, no one else. That’s why you didn’t see me much prior to the show airing because I missed out on the promos out of my own choice.”

He added: “I didn’t say, ‘See you later Awhina’. I didn’t say, ‘See you later Married At First Sight’. I was told to leave, so I got my bags and went, ‘See you later. Try me, I’m going’.”

He later claimed a producer tried to film him packing up his bags. “That’s why when I left, you saw my bag was still there,” he said. “I never took my luggage with me. And when I come back in, you see me with one backpack because I never grabbed my luggage, because I never chose to leave.”

Umm, what a mess?!
