Hubby’s past with other bride to Jacqui’s meltdown: MAFS’ Beth reacts to her chaotic wedding
‘What the hell have I gotten myself into?’
MAFS Australia newcomer Beth Kelly had a chaotic introduction to season 12, discovering her husband Teejay’s reality TV past and his connection to another bride.
You might think that joining MAFS weeks into the season would be easier; after all, you skip the teething problems of those first few episodes and are allowed to enter the experiment as the other marriages are already falling apart. However, poor Beth learned the exact opposite when she met Teejay Halkias at the altar after learning about his 2023 stint on Big Brother.
At the same time, Beth was clued into the juicy gossip that Teejay and fellow bride Jamie Marinos (Dave’s “pocket rocket”) had been in a fling with each other in their youth. Jamie reportedly revealed their x-rated past during the wedding!
To make matters even worse, Beth then had to contend with jarring Jacqui Burfoot and her utter meltdown that ended with Awhina Rutene pulling her aside for some tough love. Jacqui soon snapped out of it, but maybe a little too quickly because her quick recovery was almost sociopathic.
Beth has since reacted to the drama, speaking to the MailOnline about how her wedding was upstaged by juicy tea and Jacqui’s usual brand of spotlight-stealing antics.
MAFS’ Beth said she was ‘overwhelmed’ by the Teejay tea
Teejay appeared on the 2023 season of Big Brother as a late addition, ultimately finishing in ninth place, and Beth knew about his reality TV past the day of their wedding.
“I actually found that out the day of the wedding,” she told the publication. “I had been sent some articles about him, and obviously, I’d seen it in the media that he’d been on Big Brother before.”

The whole ordeal was a lot to process, especially after the Jamie Marinos connection, but Beth said she had to focus on the wedding and “give this marriage a real go.”
“It was a lot to process, to be honest. I’d only just met the guy, and suddenly, I was being hit with all this information — his past TV stint, the fact he’d slept with a lot of women, and then the whole Jamie situation,” she added.
“I just had to move on and not let it ruin things. At the end of the day, I was here for the experience, and I wanted to give this marriage a real go.”
She did not hold back on Jacqui
Beth might have been able to look the other way when it came to her groom, but the same could not be said of the moment Jacqui stole the show with fake tears and the most bizarre deflecting techniques you’ve ever seen.
“Honestly, it was just typical Jacqui—making it all about her, as per usual,” she said.
“Fake crying, all that drama… I just don’t think it was the time or place. She really should have kept her mess out of our wedding because it hijacked the day a little bit. “Watching people get up, Jacqui storming around the place, crying… I was like, ‘what the hell have I gotten myself into?’ It was like sitting at a dinner party — on my wedding day!”
