Adolescence’s Owen Cooper is starring in a new show with this icon from The White Lotus!

It’s The White Lotus star’s first time creating and writing a TV show

If you’ve even watched an episode of the new Netflix limited series Adolescence, you’ll know that a huge reason for its success is the fact that Owen Cooper is an absolute star. The Warrington lad, playing 13 year old Jamie in the show, had never acted professionally before he became an overnight success after his masterful portrayal of a kid arrested for murder. All eyes are obviously on what Owen Cooper will be doing next  after Adolescence – and with one Hollywood movie in the pipeline, there’s another big show he’s been cast in and its been created by The White Lotus star Aimee Lou Wood!

Here’s everything you need to know about his next project, which will see Owen Cooper working with Aimee Lou Wood on a new show for BBC Three.

The show is called Film Club

Aimee Lou Wood, fresh off the success of Toxic Town on Netflix and of course The White Lotus season three, has co created and co written a new show for BBC Three called Film Club in which she’ll also be starring. Owen Cooper, fresh off the back of Adolescence, will also be in the cast with Aimee Lou Wood, Adam Long from Happy Valley and Nabhaan Rizwaan who was recently in Kaos on Netflix. As well as the absolutely legendary Suranne Jones – aka THEE Dr Foster.

The show started filming in late 2024 around Manchester after the BBC commissioned it in February of that year. Aimee Lou Wood will be playing the lead role of Evie and Cooper will be playing a character called Callum – apparently Evie’s annoying neighbour.

The show is about two friends who attend the same film club and have to reckon with the fact it might be more than just friendship, and gives major wholesome rom com drama vibes. I will be seated. Especially now I know Suranne Jones will be playing an eccentric mother.

Owen Cooper is also going to be in a major film!

After having such a good experience with Stephen Graham on set, Graham hooked Owen up with his own agent and from there came his next role. After Adolescence, Owen Cooper is for his next role going to be playing young Heathcliff in the Wuthering Heights remake – directed by Emerald Fennell! Fresh off Saltburn success, he’s playing the younger version of Jacob Elordi who will be starring as Heathcliff. Margot Robbie also stars – it’s going to be massive.

“Jacob’s lovely. He’s always chatting to everyone. And same as Margot. Margot is lovely as well,” he added.
