Hailey Bieber is seeking legal action against people who slate her online – here’s what we know
She could sue people who spread rumours about her, Justin Bieber and Selena Gomez
So, Hailey Bieber is reportedly exploring legal action against people who hate on her over the internet. TMZ claimed she’s tired of online narratives that paint her in a certain light, and is investigating who she could sue over it. Could Hailey Bieber actually sue people who make unflattering social media posts about her? Here’s what we know.
Why do people hate on Hailey Bieber so much?
Hailey Bieber does seems to receive a lot more hate on social media than the average female celebrity does. There is no shortage of social media posts out there branding her a “mean girl”, “stalker”, “bully” or “nepo baby”. A lot of this negativity appears to come from people who are “fans” of Justin Bieber or Selena Gomez. Apparently some people online have not got over Justin Bieber splitting from Selena Gomez in 2018, then getting engaged to Hailey Bieber.
Please note: Selena Gomez has been very critical of people trolling Hailey Bieber. In a TiokTok live to her followers, she called this behaviour “vile and disgusting” and asked people to use “kind words”.

Sometimes people go a step beyond being very opinionated, and actually spread misinformation. Earlier in March, a TikToker went viral for claiming Hailey Bieber liked a TikTok in which she was “a little shady” about Selena Gomez and her fiancé Benny Blanco. The video made fun of Selena and Benny’s photoshoot for a magazine. Hailey Bieber’s team had to release a statement denying she ever liked this video. It said: “This never happened. This entire story has been fabricated by a content creator looking to capitalise off of an old, tired narrative.” There are whole YouTube videos and blogposts devoted to claims that Hailey Bieber supposedly stalked Justin Bieber for years before he went out with her, or used celebrity connections to meet him.
What could Hailey Bieber do about it?
Damaging someone’s reputation in this way could count as defamation. These bloggers and social media users could be ordered to pay Hailey Bieber compensation for smearing her image. If Hailey Bieber was able to prove that all this online negativity had caused her to lose out on earnings (for example, if someone didn’t book her for a modelling job because they saw lots of negative misinformation about her) then the people responsible would have to pay Hailey Bieber even more money.
TMZ reported that Hailey Bieber has been in touch with a lawyer called Lisa Moore. She helped Cardi B win a defamation case against a YouTuber called Tasha K.
Why is Hailey Bieber suddenly considering suing people?
Er, haven’t people been hating on her for years and years? Why is Hailey Bieber suddenly exploring legal action now?
TMZ claimed Hailey Bieber used to try to ignore all the online hatred, but she feels differently about it all since she became a mother. Her son Jack Blues Bieber was born in August 2024.
